The joy of travel is partly in the anticipation. I relish the researching of proposed itineraries the family might follow. To the untrained eye, this appears to be a simple matter of museum A followed by aquarium B. Rather, the route is determined by the gelateria, bakery, delicatessen or chocolatier that simply cannot be missed. My children no longer recall seeing the Sagrada Famillia or any of the Gaudi buildings in Barcelona, but they do know their tortilla from a toastie and a chorizo from a cheeseburger.
Few pleasures exceed the planning of new culinary adventures. Travelling as a family involves daily assessments of what to eat and what to cook. So as my family explore the culinary history of Europe and beyond, I hope to share the journeys that we make in our pop-up kitchen. Do join us.
